FLORENCIA BAY
BEACH PARK
PACIFIC RIM NATIONAL PARK (Long Beach
section)
One of the lesser known sandy beaches
found in the Long Beach section of the Pacific Rim National
Park is Florencia Beach. But it is just as
beautiful as any other beach but on a smaller scale.
Beaches receiving less attention
is a good thing for some seeking marine views, sand, rock outcrops
with serenity because they tend to attract smaller crowds in
the busy peak seasons. Although, it is a smaller beach compared
to the others located in and around the Long Beach section of
the Pacific Rim area it is by no means any less beautiful.
The peebled and sandy beach is covered
with massive rock outcroppings and cliffs. The rock outcrops
pose as monuments at low tide, standing tall... casting shadows
peering out at the horizon. When tides come in, especially in
the storm watching season, the waves crash and bang sending
a mist into the air.
The storm-tossed driftwood coating
the beach carve out little ready-made day sites for the beach
worshippers to set up base camps. Some use the driftwood for
back rests, others for shade and yet ... some for benches and
tables. The beach is ideal for swimming, sand castles, reading
a book, beach walking and lounging around.
Florencia Bay Beach is accessed
by a short well groomed trail leading to the beach. Prior to
the trail in the trees there are some picnic table sites. Must
purchase a Park Use Permit.
